
MusicaLatitudes Ensemble is the core group of MusicaLatitudes Productions (MLP). Formed in 2005, the ensemble and production company consists of three American musicians of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. In addition, they invite other artists to join their performances based on the content of each show: Greek-Venezuelan-American composer Pantelis Palamidis (Piano, Keyboards, Voice), Ecuadorian-American bassist Juan Carlos Rosales, and American drummer-percussionist Bill Davis.
MLP brings together music and spoken words spanning the equator. Combining talent from around the globe, MLP is the core that blends a multitude of cultural understanding through music and poetry. The mission of MLP is to produce and present performances to the community for fund raisers and cultural enrichment. In the June of 2008, MLP started construction of the 5,000 square foot performing arts venue,"The MusicaLatitudes Stage" located in Ventura county. "The MusicaLatitudes Stage" is set to open in late January 2009 and will be the centerpoint of MLP and MusicaLatitudes Ensemble as well as the hosting location for numerous civic productions.

Pantelis Palamidis

Born in Athens, Greece, raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and now living in Camarillo, California, Pantelis has developed a multi-cultural artistic and professional engineering careers. While in Venezuela he was appointed to several artistic positions, including Director/Founder of Aedos/Colectivo de Canto Popular, General Manager of the National Theater Company of Venezuela, Executive Producer of the National House of Poetry of Venezuela, Board Member of the Teatro de Repertorio Latinoamericano (Latin American Repertoire Theater) and Director of the National Open University Choir. He has produced several compact disks on his father Nikos Palamidis' lyrics and on poetry of Constantine Cavafys ( Greece ), Federico Garcia Lorca ( Spain ), Otto Rene Castillo ( Guatemala ), as well as an anthology of Latin American poets. He is also the author of more than twenty soundtracks for theatrical plays, including authors like Garcia Lorca, Aristophanes, Euripides, Calderon de la Barca, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, among others . Pantelis and Aedos - Colectivo de Canto Popular were invited to the first Elliniada, an international athletic and cultural event held in Thessalonica, Greece as part of the preparation activities for the 2004 Olympic. His work has been presented in Venezuela, Greece, Puerto Rico, USA, Colombia, and Mexico . Pantelis is currently the lead voice and keyboardist of Ellas.

Bill Davis

Born in Texas but a Californian since two years old, Bill has been playing drums for over 35 years. His roots stem from modern rock and has progressed to fusion, progressive jazz and Latin music. In addition to playing drums, Bill has studied Afro-Cuban and Latin rythms and plays bongos and congas in numerous musical groups. Bill has played drums and percussion in rock, R & B, jazz fusion, and Christian based bands. He also plays drums and sings in "The Coveralls", an established local group that plays many civic events and festivals in Ventura & Los Angeles county. In addition, he has formed a progressive Jazz and Rock band -Roqsho. Bill, also, plays drums and sings in a praise band with Chick Singer Night founder Lori Maier and performs weekly at Monte Vista Presbyterian Church. In additon, Bill plays guitar and writes music.

Juan Carlos plays bass and guitar since age fourteen with a variety of Rock&Roll, Blues, Latin Rock, Latin Folkloric, Latin Jazz, Progressive Jazz, Greek and Gospel bands in Latin America and in the US . Studied piano for two years at the Ventura College . He is now composing and performing with a variety of groups in Ventura County . Juan Carlos is an integral part of the development and musical character of the MusicaLatitudes group.

| Mayra was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a degree in Business Administration and now works as an ELD Facilitator in the Conejo Valley Unified School District. From an early age, she showed interest in music. She was a member of the church choir, the University choral mass, and in recent years she sang with the Latin Jazz Band “Ritmo Montuno”. |

Mayra Bermudez

Andrea Zuñiga was raised in Guatemala and Northern California. Since graduating from UCLA in 2007, Andrea works in non-profit arts administration. Andrea is a member of the Los Angeles Collective Media (LACOMEDIA) facilitating media workshops for under-served communities. Andrea has a background in theater, having directed the first bi-lingual production of The Vagina Monologues at UCLA and assistant directing "Our Dad is in Atlantis" for the Coachella Valley Repertory. She also enjoys writing. Andrea is inspired by the powerful relationship between social justice and music. She began performing in May 2010 with Luis Lopez and group and now with Musica Latitudes. She is incredibly grateful to perform with these musicians who are helping her grow as a vocalist and have nurtured her love and appreciation for music.

He sees and feels the powerful relationship between music and social justice. He continues to find inspiration in the songs of Victor Jara, the Chilean poet/sogwriter who was murdered during the United States sponsored coup against Chilean President Allende, on September 11, 1973.

| A middle school teacher in Oxnard , California . He first connected with Latin American music while working as a journalist doing reports on human rights and labor conditions in Central America during the 1980s. During that time, he learned to appreciate the music of the Nueva Cancion, a social protest movement in South America which combined traditional Latin American folk music idioms and some popular rock music with progressive and often politicized lyrics. During this period, he was introduced to and fell in love with the music of Chilean poet and songwriter Victor Jara. |

| Born in Michoacán, México, Jose is a talented musician who plays multiple instruments, a singer and songwriter. He studied music at Agora Casa de la Cultural de Vasconcelos in Lazaro Cardenas City, Mexico and blues guitar at Henson’s Music Studios and with Prof. Oscar Rivera in Oxnard. He also obtained an associated degree in Philosophy and Civil Rights. Jose has performed with several bands playing Mexican, Filipino, and Polynesian music and blues. Jose acheived a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Civil Rights. |

| A Mexican American who has been singing since she was a child under the guidance and training of her father, who was an accomplished, guitarist, requinto player and singer. As soon as she was able, she joined his “Trio Corazon” and went on the road, becoming a professional singer of boleros, rancheras and oldies, with trios, mariachis, bands, and orchestras. Delia directs “Latina Entertainment”, where she has designed a bilingual musical showcase based on mariachi, trios, or folkloric dancers that performs up and down Southern California in fairs and festivals, as well as, at special educational venues from grades K though University, introducing students to the Mexican culture, tradition, history and music. She performed as an actress with Teatro Las Americas in two recent plays. Delia has two recordings and is currently working on a third one. |

She was a soloist in the Metropolitan University Choir and has participated in multiple choral concerts at important venues in Caracas under the direction of Josefina Benedetti, Alberto Grau and Maria Guinand. |

| Born in Sevilla Spain in 1970, her heritage takes her to sing and dance sevillanas (traditional folk flamenco tunes). As a teenager she discovers Jazz and Brazilian music and starts singing in local clubs. At the conservatory in Sevilla she studied dance and ballet as well as 2 years of law at the University. Pursuing her artistic career she came to Los Angeles in 1993 where she enrolled at UCLA to study film, she continues singing Boleros, Bossa-Nova and Jazz. In 2002 she put together her own band “Viajem” with Brazilian bass player and arranger Antonio de Sant'anna. With a fusion of Spanish and Brazilian music her first cd has been released. This new cd incorporates flamenco, samba and romantic poetry |

Mrs. Briceño is a classically trained coloratura soprano and Music Therapist, having graduated from the Conservatory of Music; University of the Pacific in Stockton , California . She has performed many operatic and musical theater roles. She is a principal soloist for the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Camarillo and enjoys sharing her love of music by dedicating her talents to the benefit of others and her community.

Alkis is a multi-cultural composer and a professional musician and actor. He was born in Caracas , Venezuela where he studied music at the National Conservatory of Music and theater at the National Theater. Alkis participated in numerous Latin music concerts through out the country. Simultaneously, he kept developing his knowledge of Greek popular music. In 1982, Alkis moved to Athens where he continued his theater studies at the Greek Conservatory of Music's Musical Theater Department and completed a 3-year program on theatrical direction at the Stavrakos School of Arts. Meanwhile, he started a multi-artistic professional career in music, theater and cinema. Since 1990, Alkis has worked with famous Greek composers like Dionissis Savopoulos, Mimis Plessas, Kostas Hatzis, Aliki Kagialoglou, and Nikos Mamangakis, among others. In theater and cinema he has worked with Mihalis Kakoyannis, Pantelis Boulgaris, Anna Kalouta, M. Theofanidis and B. Silinos. He has been founder member of the Greek-Latin American bands Apuriman and Congas, has participated as a guest artist with Sexteto Novitango, specialized in Astor Piazzola music, and worked with Bruno Dando. Alkis has published three CDs of his own music: Pianolyrima (solo piano original compositions), Tweleve Alchemies and one Guitar (solo guitar and vocals original compositions), and Balicu Group (progressive music original compositions), and has participated in numerous recordings of recognized Greek artists as pianist and vocalist for different music styles (jazz, Greek music, Latin Jazz, etc.). Currently, Alkis is in the middle of a World Tour as music coordinator and pianist of Aristophanes' Lysistrate, directed Michalis Kakoyannis.

As the Dean of Saint Sophia Cathedral for the past ten years, Father John S. Bakas has been a commanding presence and leading spokesman for Greek Orthodoxy in Southern California . He undertook four years of training in the seminary-sponsored Archdiocesan Priest with Lay Professional Program that would allow him to be a priest with a lay profession and received BA and MA degrees in philosophy from the University of New Mexico . He, later, received a Master of Theology degree from Loyola Marymount University Father John has worked as an officer in law enforcement, becoming keenly aware of the problems confronting youth in contemporary society. In addition to serving parishes in Albuquerque , Modesto , Fresno , Las Vegas and Bakersfield , Father John was the founding priest of Saint Basil Church in San Jose . He was the co-founder and first director of Saint Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center of the Metropolis of San Francisco. Father Bakas has been a professor at the Universities of New Mexico, CS Stanislaus, and Loyola Marymount University where he currently teaches two courses in Orthodox Theology. His philanthropic work depicted as founder of the Kids 'N' Cancer Camp Agape program of the Metropolis Philoptohos Society has spread to important cities in the West and Southwest of the US . Father John has been working with LANI (Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative) and BID (Business Improvement District) and many community leaders, for the continuous revitalization of the Byzantine Latino Quarter in downtown Los Angeles . Father John's lifelong interest in the arts was demonstrated as consultant for the Orthodox perspective in Steven Spielberg's "Prince of Egypt" and in Mel Gibson's "Passion of The Christ." He took part in the History Channel production "Christianity: The First Thousand Years" and by leading the tour of Saint Sophia featured in Huell Howser's "California Gold" presentation. He shares his devotion to the fundraising activities for the new cultural, educational and sports facilities building program at Saint Sophia Cathedral with his passion for Greek and Latin American music by participating in this concert. |

Neiffe is Venezuelan born singer and composer dedicated to explore and promote Venezuelan and Caribbean music since1980. Gifted with an extraordinary voice, Neiffe has worked with renowned Latin American artists like Soledad Bravo, Margot Pares Reina, Freddy Reina, Rafael Briceño and Aquiles Baez among others and its considered one of the most beautiful voices of the Latin American continent. In 1995, Neiffe started performing in Mexico City where she currently lives. Her music has taken Neiffe to world tours in Europe ( England , France , Italy and Spain ) and Latin America and the Caribbean ( Mexico , Colombia , Cuba ), thanks her modern bard style that breaks most of the music industry stereotypes. Winner of the prestigious New Artist Award in Cuba's International Bolero Festival in 1999, Neiffe has published several CDs under her own record company Record Opus Nigrum¨: "Venezuela Cautiva" (Captive Venezuela), recorded in Caracas, and presenting a Latin American - Jazz fusion perspective; "Mi Ciudad" (My City), recorded in Mexico, that that delivers an sensible and exquisite proposal of vocals and classic guitar duets with known guitarist Aquiles Baez, deeply immersed in Venezuela's folk music. Neiffe also has four live shows in her repertoire under an umbrella project called "Music's of the world" where she exposes her multi-ethnic background: "Venezuela Cautiva", "America Sentida" a musical voyage through Latin America's most beautiful songs , "De Clavado Corazon" honoring the great Mexican composers of boleros, and "De la Arepa a la Tortilla" a counterpoint between Mexican and Venezuelan folk music.

Mario began his musical training at age seven with Lee Cobin and the Cheremoya Escola de Samba. He later studied Afro-Brazilian music with Luiz Badaro and Mestre King. In 2003, he traveled to Salvador , Bahia with Viver Brasil to study music, dance and culture with Jose Ricardo Sousa, Daniel Sousa, and Mestre Marivaldo. He has also studied Afro-Cuban hand drum technique and music with Roberto Viscaino Guillot. He was a guest accompanist at the Katherine Dunham Summer Dance Institute in 2002. Mario's musical influence comes from Jose Chepito Areas, Ray Barretto Tata Guines and many others.

A pharmacist by profession, Steve has been playing the accordion since the age of nine. While a member of the Hellenic Dancers he joined with others in the group to form The Hellenic Sounds, one of the pioneer Greek music bands in Southern California . After sixteen years he retired to come back ten years later with Ellas. Through the years he has played at every major Greek festival in California , Hawaii , Portland , Albuquerque , and Las Vegas . For Steve, playing and performing is, indeed, a labor of love.

Nick started playing drums as a teenager after a short stint with the accordion. He played original rock, country & western, rhythm & blues and Greek music from up and down the U.S East Coast to Western Europe. Nick is an active builder, developer and civil engineer in Southern California. His heart is in Greek music where he has danced for live shows and television, as well as, playing drums for all occasions at concerts, festivals, dances, recordings, etc. |

Fundi Legohn

Born in Los Angeles , CA , Fundi is a father, educator, musician, composer/arranger, videographer, and entertainer. Fundi is the Performing Arts Director at Oxnard High School (OHS) since 1992, the Director of the Oxnard All City Band and music instructor at Oxnard 's P.A.L. (Police Activities League). He plays French Horn, flugel horn, percussion, shells, keyboards and sings. Fundi has a B.A. in Music Education from CSULA and a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies from USC. As a Teacher/ Music Director of the Los Angeles Unified School District from 1980 to our days, he developed and maintained successful music programs in several high schools and colleges in the area and has been "Teacher of the Year," in 1993 and 1996 at OHS, where he sponsors the Black Student Union at OHS. He currently teaches at the Oxnard Community College . He has produced various live performances and studio work at: Los Angeles community festivals at Watts Towers , African Market Place, U.S.C, U.C.L.A, Loyola Marymount University , California State University Long Beach , "Festival of the Mask" ( Los Angeles ), and more. Fundi has performed with: Billy Higgins, Horace Tapscott, George Bohannon, Charles Owens, Leslie Draton Big Band, Arthur Blythe, Lebo M. (Lion King), and many others. |

Jesus is a talented 20-years old musician playing the trombone for 8 years. Jesus was the first trombone of the Channel Islands High School Jazz, Dixieland, Concert and Marching Bands. In recent years, Jesus has participated as lead trombonist in several musicals producitons in Ventura County, including "Fame, the stage play", a !940's style Christmas show, and as guest performer with the U.S. Air Force Band of the Rockies. |

Alex is a talented and superb young musician playing trumpet for about 10 years. He also plays drums and percussions, and has performed as a singer. Alex was a member of Ventura County 's Honor Band and an active member of the Oxnard High School Jazz Band. He is also very devoted to church where he carries out most of his musical activities, and he quotes "playing for God, it's a must in his life".

Ozzy was a member of Ventura County 's Honor Band and an active member of the Oxnard and Channel Islands High Schools Jazz, Raider Concert and Marching Bands. He is also an experienced and active musician of mariachi music.

Andreas Lazaris

Andreas has been playing guitar since he was 5 years old. He began his musical training at CSUN's youth guitar program and is presently studying Flamenco guitar at Dimitri Papadatos Guitar Studio. Andreas has performed for the American Guitar Society (AGS) at CSUN, at L.A. Harmony, and in various school-related programs. He maintains a 4.0 GPA throughout his academic career. Last March competed in the 19 th annual Daily News Regional Spelling and won as runner-up for the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. He was also selected by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council to participate in the Junior National Youth Leaders Conference (JNYLC) in Washington, D.C. this past summer. Andreas is fluent in Greek and is proud of his heritage. |

Scott started out on the electric bass playing progressive rock. While getting his B.A. in music composition at UCLA, he studied the double bass, and it gradually became his instrument of choice. He currently plays and composes in the recording project Rooster Ra. |

Herman Salazar Camero

. Hernan Salazar Camero, was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He studied Musical Pedagogy at the National Pedagogic University of Bogotá and Choir Direction at the San Martin Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He continued his studies at the Musician Institute of Hollywood on vocal technique and vocal pop production and performance. Hernan also performs the flute and has received lessons from Prof. Enrique Ardila from the State University of Sao Paulo, Brazil; he is currently in a flute mastering program with Prof. Partricia Surman at the Northeastern State University, in Oklahoma, where he resides. Hernan has directed the choirs of La Salle University and the Department of Justice in Colombia. He has also been involved as a musician and choir director in community musical activities with San Alfonso María de Ligorio Community, the Comunidad Diocesana Parroquia.Espíritu Santo and Community La Enseñanza of the Cardenal Luque School. As a performer, Hernan has represented Colombia in a diversity of concerts and events during the last 25 years, promoting the Latin American Popular Music, as a composer, singer and choir director; including being the opening performer at concerts of renowned Hispanic American Artists such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Pablo Milanés, Alberto Cortez and Inti-Illimani. In 2005, he won the first place on Song Composition Competition of the Cultural and Tourism Institute of Bogota. |

Iriany Pellican

Born in Chile, Marcela graduated in Dramatic Arts from “Imagen” Theater School and was the coordinator and director of the First and Second Youht Theater Festival in Puerto Varas, Chile. In addition, she has produced and directed drama events for Radio. As an actress, Marcela has participated in several plays and companies, such as Teatro Itinerante Luna, among others. She has been a professor of corporal expression and theater at “Imagen” Theater School and ONG, in La Caleta, Santiago, Chile. During the last years she has been teaching theater in Ventura. Her presence and dedication to Kids Arts (Theater for Children and Art Therapy) a non-profit organization, has inspired her to explore the area of drama therapy. |

Professor of Spanish at CSU Channel Islands and Ventura College, Claudia was born in Colombia. She is a graduate in Literary Studies from the Xaverian University in Bogota and holds an MA. in Spanish and Latin American Literature from the State University of New York. Claudia founded a University Theater Group in Colombia and the students theater company Broken Spaces (Espacios Rotos). She has participated as an actress, writer, director and producer with Mapa Teatro, State University of New York, and several community theaters. Her roles as Electra on Jean Paul Sartre’s modern version of the Greek tragedy and Irina on Anton Chejov’s Three Sisters are worth mentioning. At the State University of New York she wrote, directed and produced the adaptation of Federico García Lorca’s Fabula y rueda de los tres amigos

Mario González Vargas – Guitar
Born in Durango, Durango, Mexico, Mario completed classic guitar studies at the National School of Music of the Autonomous National University of Mexico and the Guitarist Arts Studio of Manuel Lopez Ramos. With a grant from the Mexican Government, he came to Los Angeles and graduated in musical studies at the Musicians Institute. He has received special lessons from Joe Pass and Ted Green.

Nikos Palamidis

The popular poet and writer Nikos Palamidis was born in Kapsia, Arcadia in 1921. In 1933, moved to Athens where he initiated Journalism studies and started to write lyrics and poems, which were published in magazines and newspapers. During the II World War participated in the National Independence movement "Ethniko Apoloftherotiko Metopo" (EAM). In the 50's, his lyrics are made songs by famous composers and recorded by well-known singers. The same decade becomes the Editor of the magazine "Hollywood-Tragoudi" and publishes the newspaper "To bima tis Neas Smyrnis". In 1956, emigrated to Venezuela were he continued his journalistic activity and created the community organization "Colonia Helenica de Venezuela", which for 20 years was an important reunion center for Greek-Venezuelans, where they enjoyed of Greek traditions, culture activities and food. At the same time edited and distributed several Greek newspapers and continued writing socio-political articles on Greece on the main Venezuelan newspapers. In 1991, returned to Greece for the first time after he emigrated. His lyrics became songs thanks to talented composers as Yannis Bellas, Vasilis Tsitsanis and others. He has published nine books, including the "History of the Greeks in Venezuela ", and three CDs with his songs composed by Pantelis Palamidis and Alkis Kollias. He has an active participation in the publications of the "Union of Greek Writers from the Five Continents" (EELSPI), which has published three anthologies with works from Greek writers around the world. As of today, he continues to write songs and produces a bi-weekly electronic Greek newspaper in his Internet site, www.palamidis.org . His publications and web-based newspaper are now part of an multi-national itinerant exhibition of Greek Media and Literature abroad, sponsored by the Aristotelio Idrima of Cyprus, the Onassis Foundation, EELSPI and local Universities and Greek Communities that has visited Cyprus (Larnaca), Egypt (Alexandria) and South Africa (Johanesburg) and in May will be displayed in Athens. His tenth book "To Trakter" is to be printed and distributed by Oikos Kyriakidis in Athens .

Vasiliki Bessie Karras-Lazaris

Bessie is the Director of Academic Programs in the International and Intensive English Program at CA State University, Northridge. Prior to her position in administration, she taught in various colleges, universities, and international schools in California , Ohio , and Greece . She has also worked as an editor and writer, having published numerous pieces of literature. Bessie is devoted to preserving the Greek language and culture and has been included in the Who's Who in Hellenic-American Businesses and Professions. She runs a Greek Heritage Language School in Northridge, CA. For the Greek Heritage Society film entitled, The Greeks of Southern California: the Pioneer, she translated footage, created subtitles, and was a music and script consultant. Formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, Bessie has been living in Los Angeles since 1988.
